Types of Transformers on the Basis of Core Design
2) is correct answer
There are two types of transformers on the basis of core design. Rectangular form and Shell type form. Sometimes a third form Berry type is also considered, but generally, these two types are involved.
Number of windings on Rectangular Core
a) 2
The rectangular winding has a primary and secondary winding which are connected at any two opposite sides.
Practically used Construction Type
1. Shell type is most practically used. This type provides a large number of practical benefits. In this, both primary and secondary windings are wrapped around the central leg. The low voltage winding is directly wrapped on the central leg and high-value winding is then wrapped above that one.
Such construction helps to insulate large winding from the core and helps to remove direct contact with the core. This also helps to reduce leakage flux which in turn improves the efficiency of the device.
Names of Windings on Transformer Core
3. Primary, Secondary
The rectangular core construction has two windings namely the primary and secondary.
Primary connects with input voltage/current and the secondary connects with the output Load.
Applications of Transformer
4. All of these
Primarily a transformer is designed for voltage sampling, but current sampling and impedance transformations are also its applications.
